Scotland’s wildlife, up close
The Scottish Deer Centre near Cupar is a unique destination for anyone who loves wildlife. The interactive deer park lets visitors learn about a dozen species of deer, their habitats, behaviour and diets, and you can hand-feed some of them. Daily wildlife talks and falconry displays give you the chance to get closer to the animals than you’d expect, and the nature trails are home to Scottish wildcats, red squirrels, red deer and badgers, as well as the centre’s wolf pack.
Good for children
The park has grown a lot in recent years and is now very family-friendly. There’s a bouncing pillow, trailer rides through the deer paddocks, woodland walks, a large adventure play fort, an indoor play area and a go-kart track. The cafe and gift shop sell local produce and souvenirs, so it’s easy to make a full day of it.
For opening times and tickets see the Scottish Deer Centre website.
Getting there from The Old Schoolhouse
It’s an easy drive up the A91 and takes under 25 minutes, so it’s comfortably kid-friendly. The road skirts the Lomond Hills and the views on the way are a bonus in themselves.
